Our Story
About Us
Alexander Thurlow is a small 3rd generation family business which was established in 1949 in London by Alexander Thurlow Senior as a fashion jewellery wholesaler. He was joined by his son Alex in 1960, who helped move the business into jewellery importing, supplying wholesalers across the UK. Over time Alexander Thurlow’s reputation grew across the UK as a reliable, trustworthy fashion jewellery wholesaler. In 1979 Stephen Alexander Thurlow joined, adapting the business into what it is today. Stephen reinvented Alexander Thurlow away from mass produced fashion jewellery and has steered the business into the beautiful world of hand finished flower jewellery. With the Covid pandemic came the start of our retail journey, allowing us to take our floral jewellery across the breadth of the UK and to international markets far and wide.
We are continuing to evolve, developing our flower range, improving our online retail presence and striving for higher quality and top-notch customer experience to allow us to be the go-to destination for meaningful flower jewellery and gifts.
Our Team
Our small but mighty team are passionate about Jewellery, flowers and customer experience. Having a small team means that we have autonomy to ensure that the jewellery we sell is of the very highest standard it can be. Every order is hand picked and checked with care, to ensure that your Jewellery is of the upmost quality and received in perfect condition.
Being a family run business, family is everything to us, so we ensure that the whole team have a great work life balance, so that they can give the best of themselves at home and at work. We regularly rope in family members to lend a helping hand when needed, making Alexander Thurlow a true family affair!
Our Flowers
A few years ago, a customer of our wholesale fashion Jewellery asked if we could make a Bluebell earring and from that day forward our passion for flower jewellery was ignited. Being outside in nature has always been our way to decompress at the end of the day; enjoying Summer days outdoors with our kids; the place to exercise and to enjoy relaxing in the sunshine. Flowers are incredibly emotive and our love for them grows the more we learn and get to know them. Flowers bring joy on happy days and comfort on days when all is not well. By creating necklaces, earrings and brooches of these beloved flowers, we our eternalizing the beauty and personal meaning they hold.
Our inspiration for designs is taken directly from the great outdoors, when we’re out and about exploring the countryside. Each piece is hand finished in coloured enamel, ensuring that like in real life our flowers are never exactly the same as each other.
Our Philosophy
To create intricate and realistic hand finished flower jewellery for every occasion whatever the season, that emotes and shares feelings of joy, love or remembrance.
Our Mission
Alexander Thurlow is a brand who are inspired by nature and giving back to nature is therefore incredibly important to us. We are constantly striving to lessen our carbon footprint and to be environmentally conscious at all times. This includes removing all plastic from our products and packaging, reducing our use of packaging, using recycled materials where possible and reviewing all aspects of our business to ensure we are as sustainable as possible.
Alexander Thurlow are proud members of Ecologi for over three years and have funded the planting of over 1000 trees so far.
